TECHNICAL INFORMATION

What is HanStone porcelain slab?

  • Crafted in Italy in partnership with Atlas Concorde, HanStone porcelain stone surfaces in large format is made from a combination of natural minerals such as clay, feldspar, and quartz. Fired at high temperatures in a kiln, this produces a product that is compact, waterproof, and non-porous. It contains no harmful chemicals, volatile organic compounds (VOC), PVC, formaldehyde, plastics, or petroleum derivatives, resulting in a naturally beautiful and exceptionally durable product. Four unique finishes available in a range of colors offer endless possibilities for personalizing your living space.

What is the difference between porcelain stone surfaces and ceramic tile?

  • While they may seem similar, they are crafted through entirely different production processes especially in the pressing and firing stages. The process creates a porcelain stone surface that is more resistant to impact and wear and has a high heat resistance making HanStone porcelain a natural choice.

What are the advantages of HanStone porcelain?

  • HanStone porcelain is highly heat resistant. Out-performing most other surfaces when heats involved, HanStone porcelain can be used as a fireplace surround, as a backsplash behind a stove, and as an outdoor kitchen surface. You heard that right – because Hanstone porcelain is also UV resistant and free of harmful chemicals, it can be used outdoors. It is also compatible with invisible induction cooktop systems for that sleek, modern look.

Is HanStone porcelain consistent in color?

  • HanStone porcelain is made from pure, natural minerals. Although porcelain colors may be more consistent than other stone surface materials, variation in color, shape, shade, pattern and size are inherent traits of porcelain. In addition, the random distribution of particulates are an inherent part of overall design and composition and are not considered to be defects or product non-conformity.

Will the small piece of sample I have match my countertop once it’s finished and installed?

  • The smaller samples are cut from large HanStone porcelain slabs and only represent a limited portion of the actual slab. Please refer to samples only as a general indication of a particular color’s design pattern, aesthetics, and hue. Samples are not guaranteed to be an exact replica of HanStone porcelain slabs and may vary from the actual, installed HanStone porcelain surface.

Where can HanStone porcelain be applied?

  • HanStone porcelain can be used in a number of interior and exterior design applications, such as kitchen countertops, benches, islands, peninsulas; bathroom vanities, shower walls, bath and tub surrounds; tabletops, furniture, window sills, wall coverings, fireplaces and thresholds, etc. Commercial uses such as healthcare facilities, restaurants, offices; including conference tables, reception and desktops, countertops and credenzas, lobby/interior walls, food preparation areas, laboratories, and inlays.

How do I care for HanStone porcelain?

  • HanStone porcelain needs very simple care – soap and water and a soft cloth to dry.

Can hot plates and pans be placed directly on the HanStone porcelain?

  • While HanStone porcelain is highly resistant to heat, we recommend using trivets or heat-resistant pads to ensure optimal long-term performance.
