"The Next Generation of Hardwood Flooring"

Wood Plank Tile Installers in Ottawa

The tile industry has made some incredible advancements over the last few years, creating tiles that look identical to wood. You would have to get down on your hands and knees to see any kind of difference to hardwood. The small details like grain, knots, and shade are easily replicated on to tile.

Want Hardwood Floors?

Without the Worry of Scratches, Discolouration, and Scuff Marks

Consider installing porcelain tiles that look just like hardwood planks. Porcelain is the strongest and most durable tile material that will have a longer life span than any hardwood floor. The benefits and advantages to having a tile floor over a hardwood floor are very significant.

Tile floors can get very cold and become unpleasant to walk on at those times. A tile floor can be heated using the Schluter or Mapei Electric Floor Heating System, so you can keep your feet warm and feeling comfortable all year around while lowering your heating bill.

Over 15 million trees are cut down every year. With porcelain tiles that look like hardwood, we can help dramatically reduce the number of trees that get cut down. Tile gives the warmth and welcoming look of wood without destroying a single tree.

Now we can install hardwood-like tiles in places that have high levels of moisture, like the bathroom and kitchen areas. We also don’t have to worry about sunlight discolouring the wood and water warping the planks. Tiles come in all shapes and sizes, ranging from 1″ x 1″ penny tiles to 48″ x 48″ commercial tiles. There are more patterns that tile can be laid out in, like straight, diagonal, staggered (brick), modular, baseketweave, windmill, pinwheel, or herringbone. Tile can even be used in replacement of baseboard trim moulding for floors.

Hardwood flooring usually costs $10 per square foot, depending on the type of wood you are installing. Porcelain tiles that look like wood, on average, cost $5 per square foot. Therefore, hardwood planks will most likely cost twice as much as tiles. The tile industry has made some incredible advancements over the last few years, creating tiles that look identical to wood. Hardwood and laminate (even engineered) flooring is extremely difficult to maintain. Not to mention how much we worry about someone scratching our new hardwood floors. With all the discolouration, scratches, dents, and warps that can happen with wooden floors, we strongly recommend installing a tile floor. Tile requires very little maintenance, unlike hardwood floors that need to be cleaned regularly along with refinishing and staining every year or so. Tiles that look exactly like hardwood flooring are simple to maintain, easy to clean, completely resistant to staining, and can withstand more pressure before damage occurs. Simply put, tiles can last decades, with very little maintenance and without showing any signs of wear and tear. If a repair is needed, we can easily remove a single tile without having to take out an entire section of tiles to get at it. The only maintenance that is required for any tile floor is to apply sealer every five years to keep moisture from seeping into the tile or grout.
